Enterprise is top of the Government’s Agenda “The current government has made much play of the need to make the UK the best place in the world to start and grow a business and we have recognised that enterprise and entrepreneurship is a vital contributor to the health of the economy.” (Dti 2004)

Business Start-UP @ Leeds Met… Aim: • to encourage enterprising activity and to assist students & graduates who wish to start their own business; • to provide a beneficial / complimentary addition to the 'student experience' By: informing, educating and providing support services to would-be entrepreneurs at Leeds Metropolitan University Provides opportunities for the application of learning

On-going activities / supporting materials Proof of Concept Fund – financial assistance (of up to £1000) to establish the feasibility of student & graduate business ideas Eligible costs could include: • market assessment; • promotional activities; • materials and equipment (evidence of need must be demonstrated); • prototype development (service or tangible); • mentoring, professional or other development services; • other costs, such as travel and subsistence (justification is required and applicants must demonstrate that these costs are directly linked to the commercial objectives of the project).
