Scope • Describe Basic Mode L1VPNs per the Framework • Define mechanisms and scope for Basic Mode Layer 1 VPNS • applicability of GMPLS protocols and mechanisms for basic mode draft-fedyk-l1vpn-basic-mode-01.txt
Changes from 00 Version • Many Editorial Changes • Removed NSAPs no support • Made Auto-Discovery Generic added discovery information • Improved LMP Descriptions • Clarification around Stitching and Shuffling • Added the L1vpn Globally unique identifier for Signaling • Clarified recovery Procedures draft-fedyk-l1vpn-basic-mode-01.txt
Basic Mode Review Signaling, (Routing) + May distributeVPN membership/reachability Signaling Only CE PE P PE CE TE link TE link May be assigned private addresses Limits LSPs to be between CEs in the same VPN MUST support LSPs between CEs, and MAY support LSPs between devices behind CEs. draft-fedyk-l1vpn-basic-mode-01.txt
Basic Mode Requirements • Signaling only between CE and PE • Note: routing operates within the provider network and may be used by PEs to exchange information specific to the VPNs supported by the provider network • LSP setup, deletion, etc. by RFC 3473 signaling between the CE and the PE, and then across the provider network draft-fedyk-l1vpn-basic-mode-01.txt
Features • VPN Port Index Table [Borrowed from GVPN] • Translation of CE port indexes to VPN Provider Index and Provider Port Indexes • Basic Translation mechanism for general scalable control • Allows minimal modification to Provider GVPN signaling • Define signaling procedures • VPN Addressing for CE IPv4, IPv6 • NSAP for CE removed draft-fedyk-l1vpn-basic-mode-01.txt
Signaling • Signalling: CE-CE LSP setup, deletion, modification: • GVPN signalling: • information carried in RSVP-TE messages identifying a LSP (i.e. SESSION and SENDER_TEMPLATE objects) is translated by the ingress and egress PE. • single end-to-end session (i.e., CE-CE), but the identifiers of that session change along the path of the LSP. • Shuffling, Stitching/Nesting • Supported per Framework draft-fedyk-l1vpn-basic-mode-01.txt

Next Steps • We believe the I-D is stable • Need discussion, comments on the list • Signaling extensions format is TBD • Any comments/suggestions? • Is this I-D ready for a WG document? draft-fedyk-l1vpn-basic-mode-01.txt
