LCC Strategic Plan - Priority Outcomes Strong Economy - Leicestershire’s economy is growing and resilient so that people and businesses can fulfil their potential. Wellbeing and Opportunity - The people of Leicestershire have the opportunities and support they need to take control of their health and wellbeing. Keeping People Safe - People in Leicestershire are safe and protected from harm. Great Communities - Leicestershire communities are thriving and integrated places where people help and support each other and take pride in their local area. Communities Strategy Our Vision Our vision is to work together to build GREAT COMMUNITIES - by working together, the Council, Town and Parish Councils, local communities and partners can make a real difference to the quality of life of the people of Leicestershire. Working Together to Build Great Communities
Our Priorities:- • Confident Communities - where Communities support themselves, individuals and families. • Cohesive Communities - where in collaboration with public services, communities are supported to design and deliver better outcomes. • Empowered Communities - where the Voluntary and Community Sector in Leicestershire is an effective provider of services that meets everyone's needs. • Supported Communities - where the council continues to be outward focussed, and open to new ways of working. Working Together to Build Great Communities
Our Approach • An Increase in Volunteering – continue to support existing volunteering programmes and identify ways to enable more people to volunteer. • A focus on Social Action – acknowledging that when people come together and act, they can improve their lives and solve the problems their communities face. • An Asset-Based Approach – Harnessing the skills, knowledge, connections, physical assets and potential a community has. Enabling community managed service provision • Formal devolution of responsibilities / services only a small part of the picture • Need to consider how best to enable • building community leadership and capacity • community managed service provision • Need to develop a shared approach with parish & town councils, based on honest discussion about mutual expectations
