  2. What is Sun Allergy (Solar Urticaria?) Sun allergy is a common allergy to sunlight that causes hives on the skin exposed to the sun. Itchy, red spots or spots usually appear within minutes of exposure to the sun. They can last for a short time or for hours. Allergies can be chronic, but the symptoms can be treated.
