Introduction • Provide members with an update on the Project • Outline members’ involvement in the testing phase of the project.
What is eRepresentative ? • A research and development project • Objective of creating a virtual desktop to support the mobile elected Representative. • The project began in February 2006 and will end in April 2008. • Westmeath County Council is one of nine partners involved in the project which also includes The Dutch Parliament, Catalonian Regional Assembly, Lithuanian Parliament and the Hungarian Parliament
What Will eRepresentative Deliver? • Provide innovative solutions to the problem of providing elected representatives with secure, remote access to information and services to help them carry out their committee and other assembly business. • The project deliverables include the provision of a suite of software components to facilitate:- • inter-agency searching • events notification • collaboration tools to facilitate the legislative process • e-voting • remote e-polling
Pilot Phase • We are now in the pilot phase of the project. • Two releases of the e-Representative software • An Alpha version which we have received • A Beta version which will be deployed in November 2007. • The aim of the pilot is to test the functionality of the software in a production environment.
We are currently testing the Alpha version with in-house council staff – testing involves the search and collaboration modules on PC’s and PDA’s (personal digital assistants) Alpha Pilot
Beta Pilot • Beta testing will begin In January 2008 • During this testing period the software will: • Notify you of upcoming meetings • Provide you with access to an online searchable database containing relevant policy documentation • Provide you with a single interface/screen that will include all meeting details
Members’ Participation • There are 4 steps involved in the testing: • An initial briefing meeting • A workshop to test and become more familiar with the software • A number of weeks when you will utilise the software at home and in meetings • A follow up workshop/workplace based review
December Consortium Meeting • 4th & 5th December • All partners will be in Mullingar for the two days • Members will have opportunity to meet all the partners. • Details to follow.
