Casting Spells • In the Harry Potter books most spells are cast using Latin words • The Latin words tell us what the spell does • English spells: riddikulus, bombarda • What do these spells mean?
Accio • Causes an object to fly to the caster, even over quite some distance • It comes from the Latin word accio, accire, which means to send for or to fetch • How would you translate it?
