Bacteria Viruses • Single cell microorganism • Many of them (nunnillion) • They live in food , water, air, and bodies • Break down molecules to digest food • Good and Bad bacteria • Can be treated with antibiotics • Come in different shapes and sizes ( rods, spheres, and spirals) • They sometimes move with cilia or flagella • They Prokaryotic ( no nucleus or nuclear membrane) • Can reproduce quickly • Said to be the oldest form of an organism • Made up of DNA • A tiny particle that needs a host to live (cell or even bacteria) • They are extremely small ( smaller than cells) • Made up of DNA and RNA • Damage or kills the cell it infects • Not all viruses make you sick • Pathogenic viruses make you sick • Viruses can spread thru air, touch, insects, animals, and bodily fluids • Both • Both make you sick • Small (microscopic) • Good and Bad • Reproduce
