  2. The Waterstones website has a header, a footer, a nav, an aside and a main content section. The header is at the very top of the website and includes the Waterstones logo and a search bar that can take you to other pages on the site. The aside is the bit at the side of the website that has links, directing people to different books that may be new or on sale. Clicking on the click will send you directly to that page. The main content section is the big box of information in the middle of the page. This shows the most popular books and information on recent sales or events at Waterstones. The footer is at the bottom of the page and includes the website, more links mainly about recruitment and then the Twitter, YouTube and Facebook logo. Waterstones

  3. YouTube YouTube has sort of the same layout as the Waterstones website. The aside bar shows links to different things on YouTube; music, sports, gaming, movies, TV shows or spotlight. This can direct you to what you want to watch or listen to. The main content section is the big part in the middle of the website, showing recent and most popular videos around the web. They are usually a couple of videos in each category as shown in the screenshot. The header like most websites has the YouTube logo and a search bar to type in if someone wants a certain video that they can’t find. It also has a sign in bit if someone has their own YouTube account.

  4. Navigation Methods .1. There are many navigation methods including hyperlinks, pictures, videos and search bars. Hyperlink: A hyperlink is also known as the URL for the website. Typing this into the search box will take you to that particular website. There are also hyperlinks on websites. These are normally highlighted in a different colour and underlined, they take you to a different page on the site. Picture: Some pictures have a hyperlink in them so when you click on the picture, it takes you to a page about that picture. Hyperlinked pictures are a good navigation method because they make the page more visual and interesting.

  5. Navigation Methods .2. Videos: Videos are another navigation method. Some websites include videos to watch that tell you about the website. Clicking on it will enable you to watch the video. When you go onto YouTube, it usually presents loads of recently watched videos that you can watch straight away without searching. Search Bars: Search Bars are the most popular navigation method. Most web pages have them including Google, Bing and Yahoo. They are fast ways of getting where you want to go to and sometimes notice if you have made a spelling error and comes up with the correct search.

  6. Internet Most people get confused and think that the Internet and the World Wide Web are the same but they’re not, they’re completely different. The Internet is known as a network of different networks. It connects millions of computers globally and this causes different computers to communicate with each other. This only works though if both computers are connected to the internet. The internet symbol is the small, blue “e” that is displayed at the bottom of the page. Information travelling over the Internet travels in a variety of different languages.

  7. World Wide Web Whilst the Internet is the actual network, the World Wide Web is something that you can do with the Internet. The World Wide Web is also known as the WWW or just the Web. People tend to just call it the web these days. With a web browser, you are able to view web pages that may contain things like images, videos or text. The logo for the World Wide Web is pictured below. Viewing a web page on the World Wide Web begins by typing the page URL into the search bar.
