Operational Summary • No Iraqi missile attacks on Kuwait yesterday • Coalition forces continue attack • Combat operations south of Baghdad • Consolidation of positions around southern cities including Basra, An Najaf, and An Nasiriyah • Key regime targets using air and ground forces • V Corps soldiers injured by third country national at Camp Virginia, Kuwait • Terrorist activities remain a threat • Oil well firefighting continues

Security Situation Update • Rear Area Threat: • Iraqi surface to surface missile attack still possible. • Iraqi paramilitary activities north of Kuwaiti border • NO GO Areas: Northern Kuwait Border into Iraq
Security Situation Update • CA assessments continue at a pace commensurate with the local security conditions • KU and US military state, traveling to Iraq entails risk • Close interaction with HOC prior to departure is highly recommended to ensure receipt of the most recent security updates • Paramilitary forces continue to pose threat to HA activities

Significant Recent Civil AffairsAssistance Activities • HOC inputs • Two relief convoys into IZ yesterday • Food and water planned for Umm Qasr, Safwan and Az Zubayr • UNICEF water convoy stopped by civilian crowd in Umm Qasr, unable to proceed • KRC delivering 43,000 meals per day • Deliveries coordinated with UK 1 Div
Southern Highlights • Repair of Basrah water treatment plant ongoing • Report of 60% capability restored (ICRC) • Umm Qasr • Umm Qasr water pipeline complete • KRC delivering HA supplies • Port workers returning to work • CMOC being established • Rail assets being assessed and swept for safety • Generators assessed as being damaged; repair continuing • Safwan is militarily secure • Al Faw area has no immediate food or water issues
Southern Highlights • Al Faw area is not under stress • Basrah Airport condition good • Medical – Umm Qasr, Safwan hospitals operating but need supplies • An Nasiriyah in need of blankets
