  2. The demand The information collected… should be processed… to draft an electronic practical guide for planning measures at catchment level. This guide should address River Basin /catchment managers, and should focus on providing reliable and comprehensible information that can guide policy implementation decisions for catchment planning and selection of measures to be considered for RBMPs and FRMPs

  3. The proposed structure of the practical guidance

With (many) challenges you will hear today and tomorrow in terms of.... • The right scale of analysis – and the different meanings of “catchment management” • Integration of WFD, FD, Habitats or adaptation to CC but.... • Split responsibilities • From water management to integrated land and water management • Interesting for everybody... and nobody as retention might be (often) a secondary benefit • The name of our “area of interest” (NWRM) (But: multi-purpose means multi-financing, so... maybe an incentive? )

Thus, from now on, keep in mind questions such as... • Q1 – Which knowledge would you need for helping you to: • Design NWRM? • Implement NWRM? • Monitor & evaluate NWRM? • Q2 – What are key issues the guidance should address in priority? Relevant to…. • The integration of FD & WFD… and other policies? • Western Europe/here • Q3 – Tips (content, format, process…) for making the guidance “more useful”?
