  2. Purpose Investigate the colors of flame produced by solutions of metal salts. Determine the identity of some unknown salt samples.

  3. Pre-Lab • What is a flame test? • Demo: Metal salts will be burned in a flame. Draw and describe your observations.

  4. Procedure 1. Light the Bunsen burner. 2. Spray Unknown #1 into the flame. You can spray a few times until you get an intense color. Record the color in your observations. • Repeat step 2 for the other unknown samples. 4. Clean your lab station area.
