Science Standard S8P3. Students will investigate relationship between force, mass, and the motion of objects. Determine the relationship between velocity and acceleration.
Today’s Essential Question How is the motion on a distance-time graph correlate with the same motion shown a speed-time graph?
Daily Goals • Demonstrate knowledge of velocity and distance-time graphs. • Interpret a speed vs. time graph to determine if object demonstrates constant speed, positive acceleration, or negative acceleration. • Compare the speed of a ball rolling down a ramp to the speed of the tumble buggy car.
Toy Race Lab Let’s compare the motion of a tumble buggy to the motion of a ball rolling down a hill. This will be a whole class experiment. Each team must complete their measurement twice. Average the time and report it to teams #7 and 8 Team #1 – Measures the time it takes for a tumble buggy to go from 0 to 1 meter mark. Team #2 -- Measures the time it takes for a tumble buggy to go from 1 to 2 meter mark. Team #3 -- Measures the time it takes for a tumble buggy to go from 2 to 3 meter mark.
