  2. How’s your pursuit of intimacy? • Have you planned time to seek it? • How’s that going? • Proverbs 21:5 – The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty surely lead to poverty • Proverbs 16:9 – A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps

  3. Here’s an approach…

  4. P – Prepare your heart • 1 Sam 7:3 – the ark was being returned • 2 Chron 12:14 – Rehoboam did not and he did evil • 2 Chron 19:3 – Jehoshaphat was approved because he did • Ezra 7:10 – was a prerequisite to teach • Hosea 7:6 – likened to an oven that sets things on fire

R – Read and Study • Jesus used the scripture as His authority at least 10 times • Paul reasoned from it to evangelize – Acts 17:2 • Apollos shared it as authority before He was filled with the Holy Spirit – Acts 18:24 • Paul uses it as the foundation for his instruction to Timothy – 2 Tim 3:16

  6. A – Adore Him • Adoration is the act of paying honor to and worshipping – only applicable to Divinity • Psalm 18 • Psalm 70

  7. Y – Yield Yourself • 1 Peter 5:6 • Romans 10:3 • Bible trivia – who was the most humble man on the face of the earth? • Numbers 12:3 • God can only have the parts of you that you’ve given

  8. E – Enjoy His presence • Psalm 37 – Delight yourself in the Lord • Ezra 6:22 • Nehemiah 8:10 • Psalm 81:1 • Colossians 1:9-14

  9. R – Rest in His Love • Joshua was given rest for His obedience and yielding to God • David was given rest for a season (up until the Bathsheba incident) • Exodus 33:14 – My presence will go with you and I will give you rest • Matthew 11:25-30

  10. So in summary • Plan • P – Prepare your heart • R – read and study • A – adore Him • Y – yield yourself • E – Enjoy • R – Rest in His presence
