  9. Burapha International College Medium of Instruction The medium of instruction for BUUIC programs is in English with the exception of certain free electives. Electives in such subjects as Thai language, Chinese language, and similar preapproved classes will be accepted as elective credits.

  10. Academic calendar The academic calendar year comprises two 16-week semesters and a summer session, as follows: Spring = 10 January – 13 May 2011 Summer = 6 June – 29 July 2011 Fall = 29 August – 16 December 2011

  13. Grading Assessment of Academic Work BUUIC instructors use two evaluation methods: continuous assessment and examinations. Each course has a final written examination that normally lasts for three hours. Continuous assessment will include lecture assignments in the form of essays or short answer questions, and/or projects/case studies. The student’s result in a course will depend on his or her performance in both the continuous assessment and final examination in addition to attendance to the class for at least 80 percent of total contact hours in that course. (i.e., 3 credits hour = 45 hours, students must attend class for at least 36 hours).

  15. Dormitory There are dormitories for undergraduate and postgraduate students on campus. There are also many private dormitories near the university which are in walking distance to the university.

  16. Application procedure English proficiency test Interested students must have excellent English language skills in order to take part in the exchange program. Therefore an English proficiency test (written test+interview) will be held in middle of March for the fall semester, and middle of September for the spring semester (exact date will be announced). All interested students are invited to take part in the test. Based on the test results, qualified students will be selected who can then start the application process. Students in the last semester of their study are not eligible for participation in the exchange program.

Application procedure • Selection & notification • The final selection and nomination of exchange students is based on 2 criteria: • English language proficiency • Available study places • If necessary the academic performance (grade point average) will also be referred to. • Further issues • Once the exchange students have been nominated, they can at this point: • Apply for student visa at Thai Consulate in Taipei • Check availability of accommodation at BUU • Check available financial support from school

  20. Application procedure Q&A session In order to help students prepare for their life abroad, there will be a Q&A session with the program coordinator prior to the students’ departure. The session will be held in end of December (for the spring semester) and in end of June (for the fall semester). The exact dates will be announced. Apart from Q&A session, there will be an introductory seminar every year in September (orientation for new incoming students) to introduce the exchange program and exchange possibilities to interested students.   21. Apply for a Visa Foreign students who require a visa for study at Burapha University should follow these procedures: Documents to be submitted with visa applications: 1. Applicant’s travel documents with not less than six months validity 2. One copy of visa application form completely filled out 3. Two passport-sized photographs of the applicant taken within six months 4. Copy of certificate of admission from Burapha University 5. Documents certifying that the applicant will have sufficient financial support 6. Visa fee Students can apply for a visa at any Royal Thai Embassy and Consulate

  22. Non-Immigrant Visa & Visa Extension A non-immigrant visa for entrants is valid for 90 days. Foreign students can extend their non-immigrant visas before the expiry date by submitting documentation, as follows: 1. Letter of acceptance from Burapha University 2. Photocopy of passport 3. Photocopy of receipt (Tuition and fees) 4. Photocopy of student ID card 5. One recent photograph of the applicant (4 x 6 cm). Apply for visa extension at: Office of Immigration Bureau Jermjomphon Rd.
