POST PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INDUSTRY • TO COMMERCIALISE THE RESULTS OF THE PROJECT IF THE PROJECT IS SUCCESSFUL • AFTER START OF COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION, MAKE ROYALTY PAYMENTS TO DSIR, IN THE FORM OF ANNUAL ROYALTY/LUMP SUM PAYMENTS, UP TO 1.3 TIMES THE SUPPORT EXTENDED BY DSIR

Pharmaceutical Research & Development Support Fund (PRDSF) programme • Support for collaborative R&D in drugs and pharmaceuticals sector. • Publicly funded R&D institutions and pharma industry joint projects funded. • The support is extended in critical areas of national health requirements.
Small Business Innovation Research Initiative (SBIRI) • Support to small businesses for early pre-proof of concept innovation and late stage commercialization. • High risk R&D is supported. • Involvement of private industries in development of projects of high societal relevance.
Conclusion • The Government has addressed the support to innovation in SME’s through various mechanisms. • Mechanisms have shown signs of success.
