Essential Action Items 1. Involve the Community; Identify Supporters and Detractors 2. Carefully Select Engineering Contractor Permitting, Design and Construction Experience, Competence, “User-Friendliness” 3. Identify Controlling Interests (Private, County, Federal) Jeffco Open Space, Jeffco Planning & Zoning, CDOT, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, CDPW, U.S. Corp. of Engr. 4. Establish and Nurture Relationships with Influential Contacts Within Controlling Agencies 4
Essential Action Items (Con’t) 5. Develop “The Hook”; ie., What Makes This Project Special? “Safe Access For Marginally Mobile Folks & Families” 6. Solve the Funding “Chicken or Egg” Problem Funding Agencies Require Complete Engineering Design; Engineering Design is Time-Consuming and Expensive 7. Exceed the Required Minimum for Local Funding Match FIF Requires 25%; Strive For 50% Minimum 8. Be Proactive, Accommodating, Responsive, PATIENT!
