May take the form of a brief discussion initiated by a member of the work party at any time during the planning or execution of the work. It is not necessary to record such a Tool Box Talk. The essential feature of the talk is open honest effective constructive communication regarding potential hazards amongst those involved with the job.

  3. INTRODUCTION Tool Box Talks are a key element in the safe execution of work tasks and activities. They allow two important functions to take place: 1 - They allow the person undertaking the Tool Box Talk to consider all aspects of the task, the work site and the work party prior to any work being undertaken. 2 - Through a structured meaningful Tool Box Talk they further allow the work party to fully understand the task to be undertaken with its attendant hazards, risks and controls as well as offering a conduit via questioning sessions for feedback. TBT should not be undertaken lightly nor should they be impromptu. Whether formal or informal a degree of planning will always be required prior to the giving of a TBT.
