Ms. Tatum’s Classroom Procedures Fall 2013 Grade 2nd Other group members: Keila Stephens
#1 –End of Day (transportation) • When the teacher calls out your category of transportation, quietly gather your things and return to your seat. • Once everyone has their things, the teacher will then dismiss one group at a time to their designated location.
Procedure #1 – Explanation for Teacher Reference • This will be taught the morning of the first day • The teacher will rehearse it with role play and then walk each group to the specific location once they reach the end of the day • It will need to be rehearsed every day (at least twice a day for the first week). • Each time they line up in the correct way it will be positively reinforced with praise and thank you. If it occurs incorrectly, we will quickly correct the situation and remind the student of their proper dismissal location.
#2 – Recess (lining up from outside) • When the teacher blows her whistle, quickly and carefully line up in a single file line. • The teacher will then begin a countdown. Once the teacher reaches “0,” you should be in line with your hands behind your back and a bubble in your mouth. • Once everyone is in line and ready to calmly walk inside, then the teacher will allow the class to enter the building.
Procedure #2 – Recess (lining up from outside) • Will be taught right before the release of the first recess • It will be taught by role play in the classroom • It will be rehearsed at least two times before every recess for the first week. • It will be positively reinforced each time it occurs correctly with verbal praise and thank you. If it occurs incorrectly, a signal will be given to remind the student of the proper procedures. Rehearsing again or re-teaching will occur if it occurs incorrectly multiple times or with multiple students.
#3 – Release to Centers • When the teacher is finished explaining the directions for each center, she will then dismiss groups to each location when they are sitting quietly. • Wait at the center until the teacher gives permission to start. • Begin play/work quietly
Procedure #3 – Release to Centers • It will be taught at the end of the first week • It will be taught by the teacher modeling an example for the student with some student assistance. • It will be rehearsed the morning of the first day of centers and then will be reinforced everyday there are centers planned. • It will be positively reinforced with praise and thank you. If it occurs incorrectly the first time, a verbal warning will be given. If it occurs incorrectly multiple times by the same student, then their center privilege will be taken away. If the whole class, or certain groups move to centers correctly, they will be given an award by the teacher.
#4- Restroom Procedures (going to) • Use in the morning before 8:10AM • Use hand signals to ask during class • Walk quietly to the restroom with hands behind back and bubble in mouth • One person at a time • Wash your hands with soap • Leave the restroom cleaner than you found it
