  4. Briefly describe how the catholic church formed in Australia It was 1788 when the first fleet arrived at Sydney cove with 1044 out of 1044 there were 316 Catholics. More arrived in following years many were from Ireland.

  5. How does Aboriginal spiritualityrelate to the catholic church? Aboriginals have lived in Australia for between 40 000 to 60 000 years long before people came from other lands. They are spiritual people although they come from many different communities and language groups, they share the same spiritual core of aboriginal life.

  6. How does the Catholic church help Australia today? In 1835 a man called John Bede Polding, a benedictine monk and bishop, arrived in Australia to be Australia’s first catholic bishop. He organised the church into regions called “dioceses” so that it could respond more effectively to the needs of the
