  1. Words that End with -cious This list contains words that end with –cious. -cious sounds like /shuss/ as in the word precious. Precious. Review: If the noun ending includes the letter c, the adjective ending may change to –cious, which sounds like /shuss/. • Grace + ous = gracious (drop the e and add ious) • A person who has grace (a beautiful manner) is a gracious (well-mannered) person. • Space + ous = spacious (drop the e and add ious) • An apartment with a lot of space is a spacious (large) apartment. • Tenacity + ous = tenacious (drop the ity and add ious) • A person who has tenacity (stubbornness or drive) is a tenacious (stubborn) person. • Atrocity + ous = atrocious (extremely cruel) • Fallacy + ous = fallacious (misleading) • Precocity + ous = precocious (advanced for one’s age) • Vivacity+ ous = vivacious (lively)
