  1. Leveraging Solar Energy Document Number : EL/AB/621 Rev : 01 Date :18th December 2013

  2. www.elcomponics.com A Peep into the Energy Scenario

  3. www.elcomponics.com • 227 GW of installed capacity (As of Aug. ’13) • Thermal – 123.75 GW (66%) • Coal – 120.10 GW (57.38%) • Gas – 18.90 GW (9.03%) • Oil – 1.20 GW (0.57%) • Nuclear – 4.8 (2.11%) • Hydro – 39.3 GW (18.77%) • Renewable – 28.26 GW (12.45%) • - Wind • - Bio-mass • - Bio-fuel • - SOLAR

  4. www.elcomponics.com • Per capital annual average consumption: • Rural : 96 kWh (units) • Urban : 288 kWh (units) • World average : 2,600 kWh • Europe average : 6,200 kWh • No access to electricity/grid : • World : 140 crore • India : 39 crore • Capacity outlook (2011-12) : • Installed capacity: 1,988 bn units • Generated only 855 bnunits (43.87%) There is an global Energy Crisis

  5. www.elcomponics.com Challenges to conventional power sector: • Coal stock crunch is threatening - price have gone up by 100% in last 4 years. • Diesel/gas costs have gone up by 55% in last 4 years. • Furnace oil costs have gone up by 100% in 3 years. • Water quantum falling due to climate change & reduced forest cover – Hydro power generation is affecting. • Chernobyl disaster (300,000 dead) at Ukraine and Tsunami wrecking havoc at Fukushima causing Nuclear Power Plant stoppage. So SOLAR is indeed an opportunity !!

  6. www.elcomponics.com Sun Radiation Pattern India have good Solar generation possibility !!

  7. www.elcomponics.com Key Incentives for Solar power: • Accelerated Income Tax depreciation (80%) on CAPEX cost. • Central and state subsidy on investment. • Flexible finance options available by Banks/FI. • Faster ROI (typically a period of 5–7 years). • Tax Holiday on income generated for excess power sale. • Renewable Energy Certificates (REC)- can be sold or traded to meet mandatory RPO targets. • Carbon Credits - trading will bring in additional revenue. • Little investment in manpower & administrative cost for O&M - year on year. • A good Investment option with high returns. • No input fuel cost & Low cost of generation. • Solar plant life is 20+ years. Solar Investment is full of benefits
