Developing a Positive Self-Concept • Concentrate on what you do well • Don’t be too hard on yourself • Ask people you trust for help, when needed • Try new things • Don’t read too much into each look or word
Effects of a Good Self-Concept • High self-esteem • Increased confidence in self • Feeling valued, loved, and secure • Take care of yourself and health • Care about/get along with others • Bounce back after disappointment (resiliency)
