Opening Prepare for assessment • Clear your desk of everything. • Check to see that you have literature book under your desk. • When called to do so, come and get an I-Respond remote. • You will be told when to log-in.
Work Session • Carefully enter your answers to the assessment into your I-respond remote. • Read the question before reading the passage. It will give you a focus for the passage. • When you complete the assessment, log-out. • Open your literature book to page 495 and read “Literary Analysis: Tone” at the top of the page. Skip the next two sections on that page. • Read pages 496-500 silently.
Closing • Replace your remotes when asked to do so. • Place your test in the assigned location. • Put the literature book under your desk.
Activator Day 2 • On the same sheet you used for yesterday’s Activator • Label a section “Day 2 Brain Pop Video” • Number it 1-5 (will be used Thursday) Brain Pop
Opening • Put your name on the front of the Frayer Diagram. • Use this sheet to take notes from the PowerPoint presentation.
Work Session • With your partner, analyze the tone of the four different responses from Abby. • Record textual evidence to support your analysis. • You will have 15 minutes to do this.
Closing • Your “Ticket Out The Door” is to respond to the last Dear Abby letter in a mean tone. • Write your answer on the index card I give you. • Underline the words or phrases you are using to imply this tone. • You will have 5 minutes to do this.

Opening Using web-based activities to support your education is a valuable use of your time. • Each week you will have make time to complete two activities on your choice of three websites. • The assignments must be completed by the end of the day each Friday. • Use a computer at school during homeroom if you do not have Internet access at home.

Work Session Turn in your literature book to page 496. As we read aloud, raise your hand when you recognize evidence of the following: • Purpose of article • Tone of article • Audience of article
Application/Closing Use the evidence you gathered on the notes sheet to write a paragraph discussing the author’s tone in this article.
