Math Curriculum Math Year at a Glance • Reviewing 3rd Grade content • Multiplication (2 digit by 2 digit) • Division (long division with remainders) • Decimals • Fractions • Geometry • Measurement • Financial Literacy • Single step and Multi-step Word Problems
Reading Curriculum This year will look different in Reading. Students will not be reading to just read, but they will be reading to deepen their connections with their text. • Students will look closely at their characters and interpret them by reading realistic fiction • Students will look closely at non-fiction texts • Students will read historical fiction and work in book clubs • Students will take a closer look at history throughout Texas
Writing Curriculum Students will be learning to write many different types of essays this year. They will continue with Personal Narratives from 3rd grade and build their writing skills by writing realistic fiction, expository, literary essays, and poetry. • Students will begin with a realistic fiction piece and will create complex story arcs, complete with characters and dialogue. • Students will write an Expository piece which will be a main focus of our writing block this year. Students will be tested on this type of writing for the 4th grade STAAR.
