When You Know That the Crankshaft Sensor of Your Car Has Failed

The crankshaft is the most useful component of your car engine and that can be used to transmit the power developed by the engine to the various parts of your car. The crankshaft has a sensor that can monitor the rational speed of the crankshaft and send the necessary information to your car's onboard computers. It also responsible for monitoring the emission performance and power output of your car. If the crankshaft sensor of your car is failed, then it can affect other parts of your car also. Here the defined slides will help you to determine the failed crankshaft sensor of your car.

  1. When you know that the crankshaft sensorof your car has failed

  2. A crankshaft sensor is an electronic device that monitors the rotational speed of your crankshaft and sends the information into your car’s onboard computer.

  3. The onboard computer adjusts the fuel delivery and spark timing according to the information received from the crankshaft sensor.

  4. It is an important part of your engine system as the sensor is also responsible for your car’s emission performance and power output.

  5. Here are some of the common signs that your car shows due to a failed crankshaft sensor: Poor acceleration Engine misfire Low fuel efficiency Flashing of check engine light Ignition issues Vibrations

  6. 1. Poor acceleration

  7. The crankshaft sensor monitors the rotation of the crankshaft and provides the data to the car's electronic system.

  8. A faulty sensor sends wrong data, which results in the inefficient functioning of the engine pistons together and there is poor acceleration.

  9. 2. Engine misfire

  10. The engine misfires when the ignition parts that control the spark doesn't work properly and there is an insufficient supply of fuel.

  11. The engine fails to maintain a constant speed and fluctuates and sputters whenever you try to accelerate.

  12. 3. Low fuel efficiency

  13. The reduction in fuel mileage may be the result of malfunctioning of any of the parts associated with the optimal operation of the engine.

  14. But when it is accompanied by poor acceleration and frequent engine misfire, then be sure that there might be an issue with the crankshaft sensor.

  15. 4. Flashing of check engine light

  16. The simplest and most obvious symptom of a failing crankshaft sensor is the blinking “check engine” light in your car.

  17. The light is programmed to blink in advance, allowing you to take care of the problem before the car is left immobile and you are left stranded.

  18. 5. Ignition issues

  19. When the crankshaft position sensor begins to fail, the signal it transmits to the vehicle’s computer begins to weaken.

  20. This, in turn, causes the spark plugs of the car to die out, degrading the engine and it fails to start at times showing ignition problems.

  21. 6. Vibrations

  22. As the sensor regulates the crankshaft position, when it fails, you’ll notice a considerable increase in engine vibration.

  23. Such extreme vibrations will not only decrease your driving comfort, but also affect the mileage as well as engine power.

  24. The need of a crankshaft sensor

  25. The sensor tracks the speed of crankshaft rotation, monitors the engine valves, in relation to the pistons, and observes overall engine function.

  26. The crankshaft sensor failure means that your car engine cannot function efficiently and will eventually fail completely.

  27. A failing engine is not only costly to repair but dangerous, so it is in your best interest to recognize these symptoms, quickly to get the problem repaired.

  28. The advantage of having a crankshaft sensor is that the car can run even without a distributor and less chance of a breakdown.
