One can analyze the time dependent creep modulus of PMMA in terms of an effective activation energy. In the example on the left, I picked an E(t) of 6.81E9 dynes/cm 2 . That one conveniently intersects the 60,80,92, 110, and 112 o C curves.

  1. One can analyze the time dependent creep modulus of PMMA in terms of an effective activation energy. In the example on the left, I picked an E(t) of 6.81E9 dynes/cm2 . That one conveniently intersects the 60,80,92, 110, and 112 o C curves. The calculated creep rates than yield this effective activation energy plot

  2. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of atactic PMMA is 105 °C. The Tg values of commercial grades of PMMA range from 85 to 165 °C (185 to 329 °F); the range is so wide because of the vast number of commercial compositions which are copolymers with co-monomers other than methyl methacrylate
