  2. CONTENTS: • Introduction • Background • Objective • Project Phases • TFL Network • Application • OSS/BSS • Future Plans • Conclusion

  3. Introduction TFL is committed to building a better Fiji by being the best in service, providing quality communications and making it easier for people to keep in touch. GIS is part of the development of the TFL network where it assists in providing the necessary information and network design for the framework.

  4. Background • 1994 Initial Planning looked at CAD • 1996 Calling of expression of interest • July 1996 Intergraph awarded tender • January 1997 Two pilot data capture • July 1998 100% Completion of data conversion • January 1999 Awarded 100% Club for excellence in data conversion • 2003-2004 Upgrade to G/Comms

  5. OBJECTIVE GIS project objective • To design online all cable projects. • Update and maintain Telecom assets. • Easy access for our end users.

  6. Project Phases 1st Phase • CAD Conversion • GIS Upgrade • Wireless • GeoMedia • CDP 2nd Phase • M6/U6 Interface • Automated Update GIS to M6 • Monitoring System

  7. TFL NETWORK

  8. TFL Network • Exchange • Distibution • Point ‘E’ Side Cable ‘D’ Side Cable • DSLAM • Cabinet • Drop-wire • Customer • Joint Loop • Manhole • Jointing Box • Jointing Pit • Fibre Cable • CopperCable

  10. G/TECHNOLOGY

  11. GIS PRODUCTS G/Technology Suite of Products • G/Administrator - 1 • G/Designer - 8 • G/NetViewer - 25 • G/MobileViewer - 0 GeoMedia - 1

  12. Designer • G/Designer is the base client software component within the G/Technology suite of products. It is used for network design and maintenance activities of the feature-based asset information within the G/Technology database. • The Designer client seat provides the user environment for accessing the corporate asset database..

  13. PROJECT STATUS UNDER CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PROPOSED PROJECTS CLOSED PROJECT

  14. G/NetViewer provides view/read only access to the TFL GIS database and allows users to view, query and extract data on TFL’s External Plant network. • G/NetViewer accesses the live G/Technology database via our (TFL) local area network connection.

  15. KEY FEATURES Access to predefined queries, traces, and reports for analysis. Some types of queries are: • Locating assets, • Locating Street Name, • Trace Count, • Customer Report…..etc

  16. QUERIES

  17. QUERIES

  18. QUERIES

  19. GeoMedia can combine data from different sources, in different formats with different map projections to be viewed and analyzed in one environment. No translations required. GeoMedia just reads the data in whatever format it’s in and presents it for viewing and analysis in a user-friendly Windows environment.

  20. Population stats with TFL plant

  21. FUTURE • Interface (GIS-METASOLV-UNICORN)

  22. METASOLV New TFL solution to replace ICMS providing functionality for: • Provisioning • Service Activation • Inventory Management External Plant/Cable Network • Building and maintaining inventory of Cable Access equipment/assets/ infrastructure • DPs • Cabinets • Cables Link to GIS (proposed)Link between Metasolv & GIS. New Infrastructure captured in GIS and updated in Metasolv. Daily operational changes will be done in Metasolv and updated in GIS. METASOLV ® S O F T W A R E

  23. Planners : build new equipment/ infrastructure, that will be installed in the field, in Metasolv. Initially: Manual All new plant to be captured in GIS (Planning) & also entered/built into Metasolv. Later: Automatic Planners will be responsible for building new plant in GIS & Metasolv. All new plant to be entered/built/captured in GIS in proposed state and will automatically be updated into Metasolv from GIS. Future Endevour Interface and automatic syncing between GIS and Metasolv to be developed.

  24. PROJECTS PROPOSALS • FIBER OPTIC WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT • GIS for other Utilities etc.
