The Chemical Weather Forecast System • MATCH-MPIC • Model of Atmospheric Transport and Chemistry • NMHC Chemistry (up to C5 HCs) • 56 Species, 140 Reactions • 21 CO Tracers • Online wet & dry dep, j-vals, emissions • Meteorology: NCEP GFS (T42-L42) • Full tropospheric hydrological cycle • Diagnosed Clouds, Convection • Near real time (NRT) run • 3-day Forecasts (completed ~ 6 UTC)
Flights through model output, on FTP server, in approx. NASA-Ames format (version 2 => rerun)
CO and Regional CO Tracers (flight-by-flight)
SCIAMACHY OVERPASSES FOR 14-16 JULY IN VALIDATION SET(=> special attention to quality of retrievals)!
Substantial enhancement in • UT CO (~20-30 ppbv • more than on 15.7) • Model attributes this to • Western Europe • Outflow not deep enough • Model underestimates • observations everywhere
