  2. Why Certify? • Safety certification required by 10 CFR 34 for radiographers using radioactive materials (RAM) • SSRCR Part E requires safety certification for radiographers using RAM & X-radiation

  3. Certification Options • Develop state certification program & exams • Develop certification program & use 3rd-party exams • Use the IRRSP Program

  4. Option 1 • Requires program development • Requires psychometric exam development & administration • Requires internal recordkeeping with financial transactions • Requires dedicated staff support

  5. Option 2 • Requires program development • Requires exam administration • Requires internal recordkeeping & financial transactions • Requires dedicated staff support

  6. Option 3 • IRRSP already developed & approved by NRC & CRCPD • No state administration required • No internal recordkeeping or financial transactions • No additional state staff support

  7. IRRSP Advantages • Improved exam availability for employers & candidates • Single fee for both examination & certification • RAM, X-Ray & Combination (RAM / X) exams are available
