Fur Seal • Migratory! • Bering Sea to Cali • to Japan! • Bulls must guard harems VERY closely • Mate in summer • Males won’t even leave to eat! • By fall, exhausted
True Seals • Little or no hair on their bodies • Must drag themselves by front flippers • No external ears, streamlined
Harp Seals • Killed when they are just a few days old • Yeah, they are clubbed. • Only nursed for 2 or 3 weeks • Live for a week
Harbor Seal • Smaller groups of 30-80 • 6 feet long • 220 pounds • Most abundant seal
Walrus • Tusks on both males and females • Comes south on floating ice
