  11. The 5 Most Trailblazing Leaders in Home Care Franchise 2023 M with their cognitive and physical abilities fully intact and to remain in the company of loved ones in their own home. But as life is unpredictable, our plans for the golden years are often thwarted by illness, leaving may seniors unable to perform activities of daily living independently. At this point, the ideal of aging in place at home may start fading away. We start looking for external support to allow us to enjoy our comfortable home. ark Twain famously said "Do not complain about growing old. It is a privilege denied to many." Given the choice, everyone would wish to age Home Matters Caregiving utilizes a combination of high touch and hi-tech approach to monitoring the change in condition, delivery of service, and training and guiding the caregiving team. Doing so allows the caregivers to help their clients make effective decisions about their care needs. As seniors age, they are faced with a decision about who to call for help, or where to live to ensure that they are safe and have their basic needs met. Often that is relying on friends and family for help, which doesn't always work well as the adult children may be busy with their own lives, or the senior may live far from any close family and will be hesitant to impose on friends. If there is no one available to fill the gap between the senior's needs and their ability to care for themselves they may be forced to move to leave their beloved home and move to a community living setting. Home Matter's well-trained caregivers are committed to instilling confidence, a sense of independence and control within older adults through activities such as exploring new hobbies, interests and observing these 5 keys to successful aging: Remaining physically active Engaging the mind daily Nurturing a strong social network Strengthening the client's sense of purpose and finally, building fun into their life Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ Ÿ That is where Home Matters, a compassionate and experienced in-Home care provider comes to the rescue by using their personalized care solutions –increased clinical competence, Nurse-Guided Care and assistance for seniors- to reignite the purpose of living and remind the seniors why their Home Matters for their wellbeing. The relief of being able to age in one's own home cannot be overemphasized. This has never been more clear than in the past few years during the pandemic. Covid-19 accelerated the need for in- home care and made this option much more appealing to the golden age group. Home Matter's service allow aging adults to thrive in their own home, through the aging process, conveniently rather than just surviving. These 5 keys, are a secret to waking up each morning with a keen sense of purpose that creates optimism, motivation and ultimately helps aging adults thrive. This is especially important among our aging population where many report a loss of this sense of purpose. Aligning Services with the Care Needs of Aging Adults. It can be a stressful and complicated process for families when considering housing options for their loved ones. Today, there are a myriad of options that include Independent or Assisted Living, Memory Care, Adult Care Home, or moving in with a family member that can all be suitable when looking for their safety. Adding to the scenario is the time frame in deciding on the best option for care, which may often be urgent. As a result, most of the aging adults gravitate back to simply wanting to go home and age in place, as it is more familiar to them. Home Matters' unique methodology incorporates strategies to rekindle a healthy sense of purpose. After a rigorous study of thousands of aging adults of 85 years and above, they built a care plan and assessment process that incorporate 5 keys to successful aging. The assessment process allows them to explore new interests or hobbies to find simple ways to render better service. Home Matters professional caregiving team is trained to foster a sense of purpose for their clients. Home Matters services meet the changing needs of aging adults by providing a personalized care plan based on a family's unique needs. It ensures that older adults receive care in the comfort of their homes, without sacrificing independence or safety. Home Matters Caregiving allows aging adults to do just that by offering a safe care plan. The organization utilizes a combination of high-touch and hi-tech approaches to monitor the change in condition and delivery of service and to train and guide the caregiving team. Doing so allows caregivers to help their clients make effective decisions about their care needs. The approach also provides This idea of purposeful living is well captured by Clayton Foutch, the Founder and COO, who leads the organization to run on a purpose-driven mindset. Based on the principle,

  12. Clayton's Journey My career started at Intel in 1993, and over the next seven years, I learned about process disciplines and continuous improvement principles. Since leaving Intel, that experience served me well as I began applying the theories of constraint management and constant improvement in my sales, consulting, management, and other leadership positions. It was early 2007 when I talked to Mr. Clark to get his advice on how to start and build a business together with my wife the way he and Sue had done. Christina is a licensed Occupational Therapist, passionate about seniors, and understands the aging process. The advice was simple, compliment her expertise with the parts of the business that you’re passionate about, stay in your lane when working with your partner, work hard every day for the team of people who rely on your company for their income, and purchase the commercial real estate where you run your business." in His Own Words In September of that year, with Christina’s help and support, Home Matters Caregiving was born. A few years later, in 2010, I met my future franchise business partner, Jeff Giedt. He shared my same passion for serving others. He was smart, and I knew that I could learn from him. He wanted to duplicate our business model in Beaverton, so I set out to help him launch his first foray into owning a caregiving agency where he lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. Through that process, I learned how many of our business systems were scalable and which ones needed improvement. The truth is that you never learn more about yourself and what you're doing than when you are teaching someone else how to replicate it. Following the launch, we stayed remarkably close to each other over the next decade, helping each other improve, sharing best practices, and honing our brand. In 2020 the Home Matters Caregiving Franchise organization was born as a result of that work. Whether the needs are basic or complex, the organization's Purpose Driven Mindset service model is the core for allowing its seniors to thrive at home and seek optimal physical and emotional care. It is a proprietary philosophy of care and training based on over a decade of research that uses purposeful strategies and related factors, leading to successful aging.

  13. information on when care is best suited in another setting, allowing caregivers to share it confidently with their clients and their families. for his family that would provide honest work for electricians and a comfortable life for his family. He was a blue-collar man with a strong work ethic forged right out of the Grapes of Wrath story. Clayton knew that those traits would transfer into the in-home care industry, so he asked him for advice. Alongside, the organization provides basic services that include activities of daily living such as housekeeping, cooking, bathing and companionship. In the States where licensing allows, Home Matters' Nurse Guided Care allows its teams to manage more complex care, such as medication management. Mission, Vision, and Values Home Matters' values lay in its commitment to change the way home care is provided. It means that we will constantly and continuously look to improve, we will use information to guide us, and we will listen to our clients and professional caregiving team’s opinion of us as our measuring stick. We are what they say we are! Whether the needs are basic or complex, the organization's Purpose Driven Mindset service model is the core for allowing its seniors to thrive at home and seek optimal physical and emotional care. It is a philosophy of care and training based on over a decade of research that uses purposeful strategies and related factors, leading to successful aging. Home Matters Caregiving, at its core, is a Nurse Guided organization that values the role of the Professional Caregiver as it does for its internal customer. Every team member is trained to function as a first responder, resulting in the aging adults being reassured that they'd receive care no matter what. This care model is based on data and intensive research that meets the goal of continuous improvement in the care outcomes of aging adults. Lastly, Home Matters Caregiving believes in "Do well by doing good," which is part of its core values, and why it’s essential for every organization to give back to the community that they are serving. Let us learn more about the role of Home Matters Caregiving in resolving the modern aging dilemma. Inspiration Behind Home Matters Caregiving's Establishment Home Matters Caregiving was founded in Beaverton, Oregon, in 2007 to provide care for aging adults led by the expertise of nursing and a clinical team that understands the aging process. The thought of being able to create good- paying jobs, mentoring professionals, and elevating the role of the caregiver was very motivating to the organization soon after its launch. Tapping into the Challenges Faced by the Aging Adults The aging population has approached a time in history where approximately 15% of the US population is aged 85. This reality is a significant factor in the looming questions, Clayton's original inspiration, though, was his father-in-law, Mr Clark, who built a business to create a work-life balance Client Testimonials Client Testimonials Clayton at Home Matters is passionate about his mission of delivering quality care to the aging population. He lives his core value of doing well by doing good through volunteerism and civic giving through the Alzheimer's Association as well as other causes. It is amazing to see the dedication of this industry leader and how his organization is implementing technology to overcome the challenges in the home care industry. Over the past ten years, I've watched Clayton, and Home Matters Caregiving serve the aging population in the Portland, Oregon market. I believe their use of technology to complement the high touch clinical care is the direction that our industry is going. 14. "Who will take care of us as we age" and "How will we pay for it?" these entrepreneurs have an Area Developer who specifically supports them in their state along with other locations with the same goals in mind. An Area Developer is someone who has gone through extensive training to understand an organization's business, has a track record of personal and professional success, and is ultimately a mentor to the entrepreneurs in his area. He or she will be a person who is willing to invest in themselves their area as well as Home Matters in 2023 and beyond. The answer to both questions is that Home Care organizations must embrace technology to facilitate the aging process healthily. While there are many forms of technology; from wearable devices and sensors to artificial intelligence and audio data, the best of these technologies assists agencies in monitoring any change in a condition, a potential fall, or a dramatic situation in the absence of one-on-one care. Thus, it can be said that this is truly a three-way partnership that gives Home Matters a competitive edge and the greatest chance of success. In the highlight of its success, the organization has been recognized multiple times as Provider of Choice and Senior Advisor's Best of Senior Living by its clients, Employer of Choice by the caregiving team, and Beaverton's Best from the community that its first location serves. This allows Home Matters Caregiving to take proactive actions, focus on client and caregiver specific training, and ultimately minimize the risks associated with a fall, infection, cognitive decline, and the natural change of condition that our clients experience. Scaling Operations in 2023 and Beyond Concluding Note Today, the Home Matters franchise combines a smart approach to home care—leveraging advanced training, innovative technology, and processes—that lead to better client outcomes. As a result, there is greater satisfaction among clients, family members, and team members. The trends for senior care have shifted. Aging adults today are seeking the ability to live at home safely. They are a proud group who are willing to accept help but don't want to compromise the respect that they deserve. They want a voice in the care that is being provided and spoken to. Home Matters Caregiving addresses their needs by aligning its assessment process, caregiving tasks, and the Purpose Driven Care Mindset based on the feedback of the individual and the family that they are serving. Keeping scaling in mind, Clayton aims to seek entrepreneurs with the right work ethic, mindset and alignment with the organization's values to enhance opportunities for both the aging population and professionals who choose to work with the organization. Ultimately, the organization's secret ingredient to care narrows down to following the process, working hard, and caring for clients and the team members who choose Home Matters Caregiving. Generally, at Home Matters, the entrepreneurs have all the expected corporate resources, such as an operation manual, a launch playbook, and all the tools needed to start and build a successful agency. In addition, and just as important,

  15. Chuck f you're feeling a little scared, concerned, or frustrated about taking the next step in your loved one's care progression, then Chuck Bongiovanni, the CEO and Co-founder of Majestic Residencies has a perfect care solution for you. Aftertouring around several care homes— he realized that many of these larger communities needed to improve their care delivery for the elderly. While they can provide you with a perfect dining room, larger living space and more staff, it's not necessary that you'd received care up to your satisfaction levels. The 5 Most Trailblazing Leaders in Home Care Franchise 2023 Bongiovanni of Your Loved Ones I Priori?zing the Care Needs I believed there was a better way, and I knew that I wanted to be the one to create it. I always thought that smaller residential assisted living homes were the answer, but the industry has historically been extremely fragmented and disorganized. “Mom and Pop” types of places have no universal standard of care and are typically behind the curve on new technology. We knew we could rise to the occasion and meet families’ needs for improved care delivery by utilizing updated technology and care management tools. Each resident’s needs vary and thus, Chuck believed that the answer to meet this care gap was Majestic Residencies, a home care franchise that enables customized care, tailored for each resident’s personal care needs, through smaller residential assisted living homes. Brief us about the organization and shed some light on your journey as the company’s guiding light. In an interview with Insights Care, Chuck shares his unique approach that promises Honest, Observant, Memorable and Empathetic care delivered to both the residents and their families. We began the company in June 2020. Our franchisees operate small residential assisted living homes where they provide non-medical senior housing services for seniors. Our residential settings range from about 6 to 16 residents. Following are the highlights of the interview: Kindly tell us the source of inspiration. What led you to venture into Senior care services? Our journey began amid the COVID-19 pandemic when nursing homes and large assisted living communities were hit hard with COVID-19 deaths. We saw a shift from families feeling more confident in the big box type of facilities to feeling more comfortable moving their loved ones into these smaller, more controlled environments. I spent nearly 30 years working with the last franchise system I founded, CarePatrol, a senior placement agency. Those franchisees help families find appropriate assisted living for their aging loved ones. Unfortunately, during my time touring and vetting facilities and care homes, I saw that many of them simply weren’t meeting the needs of the residents in their care. 16 May 2023 www.insightscare.com

  16. Chuck Bongiovanni CEO and Co-Founder Majes?c Residences 17 May 2023 www.insightscare.com

  17. The mission of Majes?c Residences is to create an environment where our residents can live with Ageless Possibili?es. Unfortunately, many healthcare professionals aren’t immune to “ageism” and o?en will assume that an elderly person is someone with limita?ons. While we know that our residents aren’t going to run marathons, our goal is to help them live as independently as possible and never make assump?ons about what they can and cannot do. 18 May 2023 www.insightscare.com

  18. Can you elaborate upon the core values on which the company is built and what its mission is? Records, software to support meal preparation, employee records and more. We are the only care homes in the nation that utilize a new radio-wave technology that detects when an adult brief is wet. It alerts the caregivers and then records how long it took the caregivers to change it. This technology decreases the risks of skin breakdown and infections while also supporting self-dignity for our residents. The mission of Majestic Residences is to create an environment where our residents can live with Ageless Possibilities. Unfortunately, many healthcare professionals aren’t immune to “ageism” and often will assume that an elderly person is someone with limitations. While we know that our residents aren’t going to run marathons, our goal is to help them live as independently as possible and never make assumptions about what they can and cannot do. What endeavors is the company currently pursuing to improve its care measures for senior clients? In what ways do the company’s specific services help the senior population in resolving their care needs? How are these different from other forms of care that they receive or do not receive in general? We are currently in the final phases of creating a portfolio of other senior-related franchise systems. Each system in this portfolio will offer services that will complement the others. Our goal is to build a network of brands whose missions and values align with ours to increase seniors’ quality of life throughout the various stages of aging and care needs. Many seniors end up moving into larger assisted living communities simply because these larger facilities have more branding power! Most people don’t even know that smaller homes are out there. Families choose a big company because they recognize the name, which can sometimes have terrible outcomes for their loved ones due to mismatching their care needs with the facility’s capability. Each resident’s needs vary, and some are more customized types of care than the facility can provide. There are many examples of how this can play out for the resident negatively. How do you envision scaling your organization’s services and operations in 2023 and beyond? 2023 will be a big year for Majestic Residences. We are already seeing great things from our newest franchisees, who have purchased existing RAL operations and converted them into Majestic Residences branded homes. We have also seen an increase in existing RAL owners coming to our brand because they need more support & see the power of our cohesive branding. Big Box facilities offer amenities that may seem great to the family member who is doing the touring but may not be accessible to the resident. For example, how beneficial is a beautiful dining room area if it’s thousands of feet away from the resident’s apartment? Additionally, many seniors need more supervision than what can be provided at a larger facility. This typically results in the resident being restricted to staying in their rooms alone most days. The image often portrayed in the marketing materials of these large facilities where all residents are equally involved in activities is not the reality of what happens. What are some of the testimonials or recognition that accurately highlight your company’s position in the market? We were added to the prestigious SeniorHousingNews.com’s “Five Senior Providers To Watch” list. We also will be appearing on Kevin Harrington’s (original Shark Tank member) new show, “American Entrepreneur.” Our smaller homes can be more individually tailored for each resident’s personal care needs. For example, our homes are usually staffed with one caregiver per 5 or 6 residents, while the larger assisted living facilities could have one caregiver for 15 to 20 residents. With our higher staff-to-resident ratio, we get to give our residents more of the one-on-one attention they need and deserve. What technological support does the company find to be essential in conducting senior care operations? Majestic Residences’ homes are the most technologically advanced in the nation. Each home has Electronic Health 19 May 2023 www.insightscare.com

By fostering independence and respecting dignity, home care franchises positively impact the overall quality of life for their clients. They can also accompany clients during outings or assist with transfers to prevent falls and accidents. By prioritizing safety, home care franchises promote independence, reduce the risk of injuries and improve overall peace of mind for clients and families. Companionship and Emotional Support Loneliness and social isolation can have a detrimental effect on a person's well-being. Home care franchises recognize the importance of companionship and emotional support in enhancing quality of life. Their caregivers not only assist with practical tasks but also provide meaningful companionship to clients. Engaging in conversation, participating in hobbies, and sharing experiences helps combat feelings of loneliness and promotes mental and emotional well-being. The presence of a caring companion can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals receiving home care services. Respite for Family Caregivers Family caregivers often face physical, emotional and financial challenges when providing care to their loved ones. Home care franchises offer respite care services, providing temporary relief to family caregivers. This allows them to take a break, tend to their own needs, and recharge, reducing caregiver burnout. Home care franchises indirectly contribute to the well-being and quality of life of the entire caregiving ecosystem by supporting family caregivers. Nutritional Support and Meal Preparation Conclusion Maintaining a healthy diet is critical for overall health and well-being. However, some individuals may face challenges in shopping for groceries, meal planning, or cooking nutritious meals. Home care franchises offer nutritional support and meal preparation services to ensure clients receive proper nourishment. Caregivers can assist with grocery shopping, meal planning and cooking, taking into consideration any dietary restrictions or preferences. Home care franchises contribute to improved physical health and enhanced quality of life by providing access to healthy and balanced meals. Home care franchises have become the compassionate choice for individuals seeking to enhance their quality of life while aging or facing health challenges. Through personalized care plans, promotion of independence and dignity, companionship and emotional support, nutritional support, medication management, safety measures, and respite care for family caregivers, these franchises positively impact the well-being of their clients. By enabling individuals to age gracefully and comfortably in their homes, home care franchises enhance their overall quality of life, promoting well-being, independence and connection to their communities. 22. Challenges and Opportunities for Home Care Services st in the 21 A also diminishing. Plus, receiving care in the home setting has become increasingly popular among seniors. As they age, the majority of adults have a desire to stay in their homes instead of living in senior communities and facilities. These demographic realities and care delivery preferences have led to a spike in the demand for caregivers. At the same time, the home-based care industry is experiencing a workforce shortage—making this a national crisis across the health care spectrum. Century CHALLENGES: Some of the challenges encountered were entirely new and resulted directly from the pandemic, such as seniors refusing access to caregiver services because of hesitation to have caregivers in their homes, seniors or caregivers were fearful of either contracting or spreading the infection, shortages in personal protective equipment such as masks, gowns, and gloves, seniors or caregivers' fear or refusal of vaccination, and/or overall, the fear of uncertainty concerning the pandemic. s our population rapidly age, according to AARP, approximately more than 10,000 Americans turn 65 each day, and the number of available caregivers is The overall market state, including the healthcare services inflation, is consistently on the rise. The prices of necessities, such as housing, transportation, gasoline, groceries, and food products, are steadily increasing, which may result in senior refusal of care due to a lack of monetary funds to acquire home care caregiver services. Therefore, this also directly impacts home care agencies' business operations, a decrease in profit revenue, and a lack of overall caregiver job opportunities with supply and demand. Despite the rising need and home-based care popularity, unfortunately, we still do not have a formal system of caregiver and home care support in the United States. Instead, our healthcare is focused on disease and acute care settings. Also, our healthcare training and development has not recognized the need for caregiver services which results in a shortage of available caregiver instructors and a lack of quality and professional caregiver training. OPPORTUNITIES: According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, with recent advancements within the healthcare field, including both technology and medical research and development, the baby boomer generation continues to rise with an average life expectancy of 77 years old. Also, One of the most promising opportunities to improve care and lower costs is the move of care delivery to the home. With this in mind, one would hope that senior adults continue to age gracefully through their golden years with their mental and physical faculties intact. In addition, the shortage of healthcare professionals, such as physicians, registered nurses and therapists to formally evaluate, provide treatment interventions to senior adults, and determine who may require home care aides or caregivers to assist with meaningful activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) needs have contributed to the challenges in the home care industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the home care industry and caregivers in several important ways. 24 May 2023 www.insightscare.com

  23. increasing brand loyalty, driving online trades, and helping consumers connect with the latest online and marketing news. Mental health benefits of hiring a live-in caregiver For the benefit of the client and family, peace of mind gives the most impact. When a family member is reassured that their loved one is provided with the utmost quality of care while providing respect and dignity from a well-trained, professional live-in caregiver. Hence, the importance of nurturing their social connections. For the benefit of the caregiver, peace of mind in terms of transportation concerns. As a live-in caregiver, it would decrease the need to commute daily from home to their respective client; placing them at ease with transportation headaches including but not limited to lack of funds for gas or toll fees, increased mechanical wear and tear of their private vehicle, dealing with commuting time with consideration of potential traffic congestion, inclement weather conditions, and increased physical/cognitive fatigue as a daily stressor. However, common illnesses or diseases also continue to be a struggle for senior adults due to many underlying reasons, including but not limited to poor nutrition and sedentary lifestyles. Correspondingly, this would mean a rising number of senior adults requiring caregiver assistance to meet their activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) and have an overall improved quality of life. 28. Breaking Barriers, Healing Minds What is mental health? M Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral component of health and well- being that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in. you can't control what the trigger is however you can control your reaction. ental health is defined as 'a person's condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being.' There are always solutions and its about opening up with regards to a problem and allowing others to support and provide guidance. People will often become lost in their own thoughts which causes their mental health to spiral, it triggers symptoms of mental health such as stress, anxiety, depression and intrusive thoughts, sometimes it's about understanding what is causing me to feel this way? and what can I do to help myself? Why mental health matters? I myself have experienced mental health difficulties throughout my lifetime postnatal depression, bereavement, periods of low mood, anxiety and even intrusive thoughts despite my profession as a mental health nurse, previously mental health was a taboo subject however over recent years more awareness is being raised and others feel more comfortable talking about their own difficulties and journey. Positive or balanced mental health influences our choices, actions and how we relate to others. Good mental health can help us cope with stress, succeed in our professional lives, more effectively recover from difficult situations and add value to our community and be our best self. Poor mental health affects our quality of life by impacting our life choices, relationships, education, work life and so forth, poor mental health can lead to depression, anxiety, addictions and how we function. Why are we as a society so comfortable taking about our physical health difficulties yet are reluctant to discuss our mental health, yet both our physical and mental health are interlinked. When one becomes unbalanced it then impacts the other for example when we have a physical illness it can cause our moods to deteriorate. My experience with mental health Mental health does not discriminate against age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability or social class, every human will experience some form of mental health difficulty one time or other during their lifetime. I myself have engaged in therapy and use various skills daily to keep my mental health OnTrack. Covid Mental health is about working towards balance, balancing our mental health to reduce the impact it can have on our daily lives. Everyone can feel helpless when experiencing a mental health difficulty or crisis however what I have learn about managing mental health difficulties is that 'sometimes Covid has caused a significant increase in both children and adults suffering with mental health difficulties, people spent months in isolation leaving with uncertainty and fear, and when lock down was over they have had to adapt to a different way of living. 32 May 2023 www.insightscare.com
