Our History • Formally the DigiTV National Project – sponsored by DCLG • Now fully owned and managed by Kirklees Council, run on a not-for-profit basis • DigiTV Starter Kit – ‘microsite’, static content, images, forms and questionnaires • 3 Channels: • Digital Television (SKY, Virgin Media, Freeview with modem) • Mobile Phones • Kiosks • Games consoles • 83 LA’s, HA’s and other public sector organisations engaged to date • Full business case – and ability to provide a ‘joined up’ service

The DigiTV Audience • There is a clearly defined audience for DigiTV: • Digitally and socially excluded, with a focus on the C2, D and E demographic • The elderly • Disabled people • Patients with long term conditions and the ‘worried well’ • Evidence suggests that these people are the highest users of public services, the most expensive to service and the most difficult to reach Results from recent Microsoft & Ofcom surveys: • 30% Of current OAPs and “Baby Boomer” Generation are computer illiterate • 97% Of households have a television – which will have to become digital by 2012 • 52% of non EMG households and 63% of EMG households already have TV capable of accessing Looking Local • 90% of the adult population owns a mobile phone
