GEO Warm-up: 9/11 and 9/14 Name: ____________________ Date: ____________ Pd: _____ • **Make sure to use correct notation!** • Looking at the picture answer the following: • a.) Name a pair of skew lines • ____________________________ • b.) Name a pair of parallel lines • ____________________________ • c.) Name a pair of perpendicular lines. • ____________________________ • d.) Name a pair of intersecting lines. • ________________________________ 2. Solve the following equations for the variable. a.) x + 4x = 40 b.) (x + 4) + (2x + 7) = 101 c.) | x+ 2| = 15
Mastery Objective • We will use the segment addition postulate to determine the length of a segment(s). • We will use the angle addition postulate to determine the measure of an angle(s).
Agenda • Copy HW/Drill • Last Call on Missing HW Assignments • Pass back Graded Papers and get students who were absent started on the “pop quiz” • Going over certain Homework Questions • Segment Addition Notes • Angle Addition Notes • Summary • Geometry Aerobics
Picture Geometry (partners) • Segments only have to be named by 2 letters, even if there is a third letter in between. Example: CAO can be named as just CO or CA or AO. • For angles, when you talk about the house you must use 3 letters unless you are just talking about the roof part. • Parallel and Perpendicular definitions and symbols. • 3 collinear points and 3 noncollinear points.
Homework • Segment and Angle Addition Worksheet. Do all Front and Back!
Segment Addition Activity • Sentence Strips • Rulers
Angle Addition Activity • Construction Paper
Summary • On your colored post-it, complete the summary problem. • Write your name at the top of your post-it. • Complete the problem based on the color of your post-it. • For example, if you have a Yellow post-it, you will complete the problem on the yellow poster paper.
Geometric Aerobics! • Time to get up, be active, and show us some geometric terms!!!
Geometric Aerobics • Line • Segment • Angle • Ray
Geometric Aerobics • Parallel Lines • Perpendicular Lines • Plane • Congruent
