Renaissance Learning • LPMS uses the computerized STAR reading test to determine student reading levels • Renaissance Place is an online version of Accelerated Reader (AR) • Currently has over 122,000 quizzes available for students
Renaissance Learning • Quizzes for all level of readers • Fiction and Nonfiction quizzes • New quizzes added weekly • Data for each student • STAR designed as a tool for Response to Intervention (RtI) • Reward based system
SMART Goal Process • Identify a need that the library can impact: Student Achievement in reading • Collaboration: Working with all the teachers in the building to create a culture of reading • Data Driven Instruction: knowing exactly where to help our students
LPMS SMART Goals • Students will obtain a years growth in reading. This will be assessed by STAR reading scores. • All students will set quarterly goals in Accelerated Reader based on their STAR scores to help them attain a years growth in reading.
Year Long Statistics(and still counting…) • Over 13,521 quizzes passed • 35,336.6 points earned • 81.2 average percent correct • 524 Spanish Quizzes passed • LPMS students took quizzes over 3,215 different titles • Checked out 15,167 books (32 per student)
Rewards • Ice Cream Sunday and Root Beer Float parties for Goal Achievers • Students who made their Year goal will go to a Colorado Rockies game • Students who made their goals have their names displayed in the library
Data Analysis • Seeing improvement each quarter with number of students getting their AR goal • STAR results are not improving as much as we would like • Students are reading • Fourth Quarter goal will end May 7
Next Steps • Final STAR test will be at the end of the school year • Continue to adapt the program based on the data • Have Access classes devoted to helping students get AR goals

Next Year’s Focus • Continue with current goals • Focus on closing the Achievement Gap • Focus on Students who are on an ILP • Integrating Read 180 and System 44 into the AR program
