Former Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn took the Oath of Office at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009. The Oath of Office was administered by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke in a brief ceremony in the Chamber of the Illinois House of Representatives. Assumed Office on January 29, 2009 4 year term of office May serve an unlimited amount of terms Must be 25 years old, a resident of Illinois for 3 years before election, and a U.S. citizen.
