About us • Your distance education & training network • Established in 1986 • Funded by the Government of Ontario • Student & Faculty/Instructor Portals • Working with publically funded colleges, universities, school boards and essentials skills providers • Focus on small, rural and remote communities
Student Portal Overview — Stats • www.studyonline.ca • February 2012 enhancements launched based on student usability study results (see 2 handouts) • 28,083 unique visitors March 2012–Sept. 30, 2012 (average of 4,000/month) • Over 5,000 link-outs from search results pages to institutions’ eLearning pages (April to September 2012 – reports to be published this fall).
Student Portal: Data Transfer • www.studyonline.ca • In January 2012, 19 partners shared data electronically, we now stand at 31 of 44 (only 6 universities left) • 12 universities share data on a semester basis • Waterloo and Guelph have an XML feed which ensures timeliness and accuracy of data • There is still time to act regarding Winter offerings • Our goal: 44 XML feeds by December 2013.
Faculty & Instructors Portal Overview — Stats • www.contactnorth.ca/home • Key Features: Pockets of Innovation / Trends & Directions / Training Opportunities / Tips & Tools / Partner Corner / Online Learning News • September 2012 enhancements launched based on Educator usability study results (also see handout) • 11,494 unique visitors March 2011 – Sept. 30, 2012 (average of 600 per month)
Promotional efforts • Coordinators and Assistants in 112 online learning centres promote Ontario’s publicly-assisted offerings • Fall 2012 promotional campaign with Student Reference Group: OUSA, CFS-O, CSA • facebook.com/ContactNorthtwitter.com/ContactNorth (Please like & follow us) • Online Learning News: bi-weekly e-newsletter (7,500 – please subscribe & share internally).
