  2. D.I.D.L.S • D- The diction of this poem is symbolic and complimentary to theme. • The author uses diction such as; “flush,” “relief,” “nervous,” “peace,” “love,” and “reach” to convey the poems connection with love and feelings throughout. • There is an obvious element of overcoming something that can be seen through choice of diction.

  3. D.I.D.L.S • I- The author uses an obvious element of imagery throughout. • This is apparent through the author’s use of “veins to flush,” “levelled gun,” and “nervous laugh.” • These elements provide visuals for the reader and in turn bring them into the poem.

  4. D.I.D.L.S • D- The author does not use an overabundance of details throughout. • The details the author uses such as; “narrowest veins,” “waited for,” “morning let us pass,” and “day by day” all allude to the night when joy began. • These details serve to describe “the night when joy began.”

  5. D.I.D.L.S • L- The language throughout the poem supports the theme of overcoming and love. • The author exhibits this through language such as; “waited,” “relief,” “outgrows,” “nervous laugh,” and “peace.” • This language is complimentary of theme throughout.

  6. D.I.D.L.S • S- The structure of this poem is complimentary to the simplicity. • While the structure is simplistic, it is also powerful. • The author uses a semblance of rhyme scheme throughout to provide a song-like feel. • There is also a use of compound sentence structure for flow.
