IPC DESIGNER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IPC Designer Certification Program is based on industry standards and not specifications of a single company. The professional development program objectively evaluates core competencies in PCB design. Courses focus on technical knowledge on how to convert the description of an electrical circuit into a printed circuit board that could be manufactured, and then assembled and tested. Certified Interconnect Designer-Basic (CID) and Advanced (CID+) are valued professional qualifications that are recognized by the electronics industry globally. The IPC Designer Certification Program certification will benefit PCB designers with a minimum of 2 years’ experience the most. The Designer Certification creates the foundation for decision making in design, as well as the practical application of IPC standards. The course is available to managers and engineering staff that are interested in design. The IPC Designer Certification is not aimed only at designers. Many professionals that work in supporting industries are enrolling in this program, including mechanical and electrical engineers, PCB manufacturing engineers, assembly technicians and parts engineers. Certification can be valuable to advance one’s career. Earning a CID or CID+ certification will demonstrate an understanding of the standards governing electronic design and manufacture.
CID should be taken before CID+ and the training is offered at IPC-licensed training centers globally. Before the programs are undertaken, independent study of course materials is expected. Approximately 3 weeks is required for this. The course itself consists of 2 full days of classroom instruction facilitated by an instructor that is IPC-qualified. This is followed by 1 day for the examination, during which 100+ multiple-choice questions will be asked. A minimum score of 73% is required before a certificate will be issued. The registration fee includes the following: All course materials are shipped to the participant. 2 full days of classroom instruction facilitated by an instructor that is IPC- qualified Examination and individual consultation sessions with the instructor Certificate It is not necessary to buy any additional documents. Once materials have shipped, cancellations will not be refunded. Participants may, however, arrange to transfer to another session should this be required. Although it is possible to customize course sessions to meet an organization’s requirements, the minimum time required is 2 full days of instruction in a classroom setting, plus a half day for the exam. To get training and certification, contact a local training center. The training centers with the most complete IPC classroom training programs are listed below on a per continent base.
