AREAS OF CONCERN Slum redevelopment and prevention Old and dilapidated buildings Affordable housing for EWS/LIG Housing for PAPs. Housing for pavement dwellers. Hassle free environment for private development.
SLUM REHABILITATION Law for Slum redevelopment, prevention already in existence. 1/1/95 cut off date; 269 sq.ft. entitlement; free houses main features of the policy. SRA constituted in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur. Other places IHSDP, BSUP schemes being implemented.
OLD AND DILAPIDATED BUILDINGS Problem acute in island city, suburbs, Thane. Nearly 27000 buildings. Island city: incentive FSI, cluster development approach. Suburbs: Policy is evolving pursuant to adoption of Afzalpurkar committee report. Thane: Issue being studied by Agarwal committee.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING Reservation in DP for EWS/LIG Housing. Reservation in housing schemes also. Liberalizing FSI, particularly for MHADA Cross subsidization. Affordable rental housing. Satellite township development.
HOUSING FOR PAPs Major development projects underway. Proper rehabilitation of PAPs necessary. PAP tenaments being constructed by granting TDR.
HOUSING FOR PAVEMENT DWELLERS Pavement dwellers have been identified. Mahatma Gandhi Padapath Kranti Yojana is being implemented.
HASSLE FREE PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT MoFA amended to improve transparency in transactions. Stamp duty amnesty scheme introduced. Property tax reforms are underway. ULC repealed; Rent Act being amended Approval procedures being simplified. Land laws being modified.
