High School History/Social Studies Class • 9th – 12th grades • Students with a desire to know more about the historical context of the Atomic Age and more specifically about the NPT ( Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) of 1970 and its lasting legacies TARGET AUDIENCE
To help students identify the states that have signed the NPT ( Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty of 1970) • To encourage students to use all of the tools at their disposal in order think critically about the purpose of the NPT and the subsequent actions/inactions of its signatories • To help students in their understanding of the organization of the Post Cold War World. Instructional Objectives
Strengths Weaknesses • Easy to follow instructions • Each Dove gives a specific set of information that allows the student to critically analyze the content in order to find the location of the state in question • The game instantly tells you if the answer/location is right or wrong • The game does not probe the student to ask questions as to why the states have not disarmed • The game does not address the concerns of states that refused to sign the NPT and why • The game is pretty simple and only scratches the surface of Nuclear Non Proliferation The Peace Doves
