Status of ETSI Deliverables GSC-9, Seoul
System Reference Document TR 101 994-1(UWB Communications) • TR 101 994-1 published as an ETSI Technical Report and forwarded to CEPT to support interference studies • TR content includes: • Description of the UWB PHY approaches developed in IEEE and enabling communication data rates of 110, 200, 480 Mb/s for CE, PC and Mobile applications (e.g Wireless USB) • UWB Characteristics to support interference studies(activity factors, traffic and session information, transmitter activity coordination, etc.) • Suggested interference studies to be made by CEPT • Market forecast: applications and volumes per applicationuntil 2009 : hundreds of millions units. System Reference Document TR 101 994-2 (GPR & WPR Radars) • A TR 101 994-2 working draft is available and plan is to publish by September 2004. • TR content includes • Description of Ground Probing Radars, Wall Probing Radar, and reference to Through-Wall Probing Radar • Operating principle: Radar type signal, no communications, no standardized protocol required. • Description of application range: highway inspection, airport runway inspection, rail, humanitarian and military landmine detection, geophysical applications, archaeology, … • Market forecast: small, limited to specialist and professional users. 5 000 to 10 000 units in ten years from now GSC-9, Seoul
Candidate Harmonized Standard EN 302 065 -1 & -2 (UWB Communications) • Working Draft for part 1 and part 2 are available. • Part 1: Technical Characteristics and Test Methods • Part 2: Draft Candidate Harmonized EN under article 3.2 of R&TTE • Content of Draft Standard includes: • Presentation of equipment for testing purpose, Test Site and general arrangements, Test conditions, ... • Methods of measurement, particularly a two-step measurement method for the peak power at 50 MHz bandwidth. • Some transmitter and receiver test suites with provisional limits until CEPT interference studies decide limits.
