Numeracy • Practical and written maths • Key objectives • Rounding numbers less than 1000 to the nearest 10 and 100; recognise simple fractions and equal fractions; carry out column addition and subtraction; know the 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 time multiplication tables and derive division fact; find remainders after division; choose and use the appropriate number operations to solve problems. • Mental maths – use known number facts to add ot subtract mentally)
Literacy / Creative Curriculum Choose topics that will develop Literacy skills, through learning History, Geography and Science. Autumn Term: The Egyptians Spring Term: The Tudors Summer Term: The Rainforest
The Egyptians • Write stories from other cultures • News reports and explanation texts • Written version of the story • Geography and DT (map work, rivers, agriculture, 3-d sculpture) • Science – forces and friction linked to building of pyramids

Literacy Through these topics, we study: • Instructions • Explanations • Non-chronological reports • Fiction writing
Reading • Guided Reading • Independent reading • Books home – 1 per week, return Friday for changing • Read anything! • Books, comics, newspapers, on-line books etc
