Start of Israeli-Arab Conflict • End of WWI, League of Nations granted Britain control of Palestine. • Balfour Declaration issued in 1917 to establish a home for the Jewish population. • Arabs rejected the idea of a “Jewish Homeland” and war broke out between the two. • Nov 29, 1927; Britain hands control back over to the UN. http://www.trumanlibrary.org/israel/index.html http://www.adl.org/israel/record/creation.asp

Jewish and Islamic Religion • The Dome of Rock is the oldest Islamic monument. • The Wailing Wall is the Holiest of places on earth for the Jews. • The two religions refer to Jerusalem as their Holy city. • This caused a religious war between the two.   9. End of the War • Israel conquered 78% of Palestine. • Over 500 towns and villages were obliterated. • Over all the land that Israel won, names of towns, rivers and hillrocks were given new Hebrew names. • Palestinian culture was erased. http://www.ifamericansknew.org/history/

  11. 1967-Current Conflict • Israel took over the last 22% of Palestine which consisted of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. • Currently there is still conflict going on between the two religions over views and territory. http://www.ifamericansknew.org/history/

  12. US Involvement • The U.S. would give Israel an average of $7 million dollars a day. • Since Israel's creation, The U.S. has given more funds to Israel than any other country. http://www.ifamericansknew.org/history/
