  3. Dimensions and material • Bronze hollow cast • Most likely made using a wax mould • 1.92 metres tall • Unlike early archaic statues the proportions are accurate

  4. Significance • Adapts the kouros pose • Right leg forward • Hands outwards • One of few bronze statues to survive • Not damaged • An original • Normal eyes

  5. Hair is beaded along the neck The fringe however is realistic Eyes are well proportioned Ear is well placed and realistic Detailed hands

  6. No smile Realistic Muscles No ribbon of muscle, but the V is still visible Knee is detailed but not as much as other marble sculptures

  7. Detailed fringe Minimal carving on the back Arms have not snapped

  8. It is clear that the artist has begun to exploit the new freedom that the material allowed him: the arms are separated from the body and extended unsupported in a position that would not have been possible ion marble
