Brief Product Training Door to door sales
Purpose of this module • By the end of this training module the learner will have a clear understanding, and able to demonstrate this knowledge, of the products being offered by Career Direct and the process for making an offer to provide training to a customer. • By having a clear understanding of the offer and processes of selling sales representatives will be better equipped to provide quality results with superior service.
Training | Background into the Industry • Traditionally, students wishing to study qualification at a Vocational level (Certificate 1 – Certificate 4, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) would need to pay a ‘fee for service’, where training would cost them thousands of dollars per certificate to study. • In Victoria, the state government has introduced funding known as the ‘Victorian Training Guarantee’. • This is not ‘free’ training, instead the government contributes to the cost of the course to make it cheaper for students to undertake training • The amount that the student needs to pay is the ‘gap’ between what the government will pay, and what the training provider charges. • The amount that the government pays per certificate varies depending on how much demand there are for these skills. Areas where there are more demand for qualified staff, like aged care or child care, receive more funding than areas where there is less demand for qualified staff, like retail. • For some of these ‘skill shortage’ areas, the government funding is high enough that the Registered Training Organisation does not need to charge the student any fee at all.

Why double qualifications? • There are two reasons we deliver two qualifications together. • This maximises the chances of finding employment by giving them two qualifications in their relevant field. • This maximises the amount of funding available to the student, as the Victorian government requires that students can only enrol in a qualification higher than they currently have, however the student can enrol into two qualifications of the same level at the same time.
Victorian Training Guarantee | Student Eligibility • You can determine a student’s eligibility by looking at the form on our website. http://www.careerdirect.com.au/eligibility • There are some basic rules to determine someone’s eligibility. These are presented as a guide, and are specifically written around the Career Direct Aged Care and Child Care Certificate III programs. • A student must be either; • an Australian citizen; or • a holder of a permanent visa; or • a New Zealand citizen • Someone can only enrol into these programs if they have never completed a Certificate III qualification or higher (this includes Certificate III, IV, Diploma and Degrees) • The student must be able to compete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment. (If their English is not good enough, we would recommend an English course instead).
Things not to say • We cannot say the training is ‘FREE’, the training is very expensive but is government funded for eligible individuals. • We cannot guarantee a job, or a job placement – but we believe these courses will give them the best chances of finding employment. • We cannot say that students can miss parts of the programs – due to the amount of content that needs to be covered in a short amount of time, the students must be available for the entire duration of the programs. • We do not allow students to bring their children to the class
Things we should say • People from diverse backgrounds and disabilities are encouraged to apply • Training is provided with state and federal government funding • A student can enrol in a maximum of 2 funded courses per year – it is important that they realise if they choose to enrol in these courses that they will not be able to undertake any other programs this year, and that they will not be able to complete another qualification of this level or below (we want to help them choose the right course) • Students should be motivated and encouraged that by organising their own work placement, it is giving them the best chance at finding ongoing work
Enrolment • All representatives completing enrolment paperwork must sign an ‘Authorised RTO Delegate form’. • All representatives completing enrolment paperwork must complete required tests, and participate in training. • We require a clear, colour copy of the students Medicare card at the point of enrolment – this is a requirement to determine that the student is an Australian Citizen / Permanent Resident. • Students must complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy form themselves without help. • Enrolled students must be left with a welcome pack, including course details, and the BAWM participant handbook.
