Where to use the F3SJ-E / B • F3SJ-E – Pre-wired / 185mm to 1105mm • OEMs looking to reduce costs • Small footprint assembly machines where the control panel is nearby the light curtain is not susceptible to damage due to collisions with the work piece • Applications where there is an external safety controller or relay and EDM functions of the light curtain are not used • F3SJ-B – Connector Version / 185mm to 2065mm • Applications where downtime due to maintenance is a concern • Material Handling with simple mute requirements where taller opening need to be guarded

Price Strategy • F3SJ-B versus F3SJ-A • 185mm to 2065 mm: 10% to 30% lower list price • F3SJ-E versus F3SJ-A • 185mm to 1185 mm: 17% to 25% lower list price, 31% to 33% lower when 3m cables are included • “–E” models are pre-wired and do not utilize connectors nor need extension cables that add extra costs

Selling Strategy • FOCUS ON THE F3SJ-E Pre-wired version • The F3SJ-E is priced very competitively and should be selected for: • New customers, • Customers lost due to competitive pricing situations or; • Customers simply wanting a basic ON/OFF set of light curtains* *External Device Monitoring (EDM) capabilities handled by a safety relay or controller.

What if a quick connect option is required? • 2 options: • 1) Select an F3SJ-A model with 8-pin connectors and the appropriate F39-JC_ extension cables or; • 2) Select an F3SJ-E model and the customer can add field attachable 8-pin connectors • Suggested 8-pin field attachable connectors: • Phoenix Contact: 1513334 / SACC-M12MS-8CON-PG9-M  • Recommended Extension Cables: • F39-JC_ series are used with the F3SJ-A series of light curtains and a fully compatible with the F3SJ-E/B models, the only difference is the colour of one wire, refer to the Cable Differences section below.

How to Order: F3SJ-E • Select the appropriate Light Curtain length • Recommended: 305mm, 625mm, 945mm or 1105mm • Select appropriate brackets • New Installation: F39-LJB1; set of 4 top and bottom mount brackets. •  Retrofit Installation: F39-LJB4; set of 4 top and bottom mount brackets, these have elongated holes to allow for use of the existing mounting holes.

Of the 3 competitors compared Schmersal had the most downfalls: • Separate controller requiring panel space and extra wiring • Separate ground connection from the connection cable to the housing of the emitter and receiver – increasing installation time • Only a 3.5m operating range • No mention of mutual interference protection • No Built-in Mute Capability • No Visible Alignment Indicators, only received light indicator • The slowest response time by 70% • Up to a 47% higher power consumption
