4. Prewriting Stage Concrete Poetry takes the shape of the subject or object of the poem. In this stage, students will record words or phrases related to or describing their animal or object, on the web organizer.

8. Practice Activity Teacher will pull an animal or object name out of the bag. Students will draw an outline of the animal on a piece of paper.

9. Practice Activity Cont’d. Students will come to the board and write a word or phrase that describes the animal or object. As a class, we will discuss why or why not we agree with the detail provided.

10. Assessment Activity Students will be given a web organizer to complete on the animal they are assigned. Students will write words or phrases that describe their animal or object on their web.

12. PLO The students will draft a poem in the form or shape of their animal, using the words or phrases from their web organizer.

13. Concrete Poetry takes the shape of the subject or object of the poem. Drafting/Revising/Editing During this stage, students will use their words or phrases to create a poem that forms the shape of their animal or object.

14. Practice Activity Students will use the previous words or phrases to create a poem that forms the shape of their animal or object, on a separate piece of paper.

15. Assessment Students will write the words or phrases used in their graphic organizer to create a poem in the shape of their animal or object. Students must write their descriptions around the outline of their animal.
