  4. LahontanRegion • About 24% of the landmass of CA • < 2% of population • Primarily surface water in north basin and groundwater in south basin

  5. LahontanRegion Death Valley –282 ft. Mt. Whitney 14,494 ft.

  6. Water Resources • 700+ lakes • 3,000+ miles of streams • 1,500+ sq miles of groundwater basins • 2 ONRWs Mono Lake and Lake Tahoe • 15 major watersheds

  7. Mission of State and Regional Water Boards “… preserve, enhance and restore the quality of California’s water resources, and ensure their proper allocation and efficient use for the benefit of present and future generations.”

  9. Timber Waiver • Conditional • Covers timber harvest or vegetation management • Only applies to Lahontan Region

  10. Bridgeport Grazing Waiver • Conditional • Applies to grazing operations on private lands in the Bridgeport Hydrologic Area • Water Board tool to address fecal coliform water quality problem

  11. $1 Million Grant Opportunity • First come, first served • Grazing Management Practice Implementation and Assessment on private lands in the Lahontan Region
