Darius unified the Persian Empire by building roads, a uniform set of weights and measures, and establishing capital cities • Persia stretched from the Nile to the Indus River • The empire was divided into provinces, ruled by local officials • Persians paid tribute and taxes Building an Empire

  4. Zoroastrianism taught there were only 2 gods, the god of truth, light, and goodness, and the god of darkness and evil. • The universe was the battleground. • The good went to Heaven, the bad went to Hell. • Founded by Zoroaster Religion

  5. Using coins, they went to a “money economy” • Built 100s of miles of roads • The Persian Royal Road was 1500 miles long with 100 stations holding fresh horses. • Postal service established under Darius Persia’s Accomplishments
