  2. What is a direct object (d.o.)? • It is a person or thing that receives the action of a verb: • Yo’ mama hit yo’ daddy. • Mr. Cardona hit yo’ puppy.

  3. What do pronouns do? • Quite simply: they replace nouns • Mr. Cardona ate the piece of cake.---He ate the piece of cake. • We gave your mother a bomb.---We gave her a bomb.---We gave it to her.

  4. So, what are the d.o.p.? Short for direct object pronouns! (and where do they go?)
